Android development for business in Uzbekistan

Android development means building an app that runs on the phones most people in Uzbekistan actually carry. Jar Agency is a digital agency in Tashkent with an in-house development team. We plan the product, design the screens, write the Android app, connect it to your server side and take it through the Google Play release, then keep supporting it after launch.

What an Android developer actually does

An Android developer builds the part of the product that lives on the phone: screens, navigation, forms, offline storage, notifications, camera and location access. Everything the user touches is their responsibility.

The second half of the job is invisible: talking to your server, handling weak connections, caching data, keeping the app fast on modest hardware and safe with user data.

A developer alone is rarely enough. A working app also needs a designer, a backend engineer and someone who tests it on real devices. In our team those roles sit together.

Security is part of the job as well: how tokens are stored on the device, what data stays local and what the app is allowed to request. On Android these choices are visible to the user in the permissions dialog, so they affect trust directly.

Why Android matters on the local market

In Uzbekistan most of the audience browses and buys from a phone, and Android is the dominant platform. If your product has to reach a wide local audience, Android is where you start rather than where you finish.

A large share of those phones are budget models with limited memory and older system versions. An app that only feels good on a flagship will be uninstalled quickly here.

Mobile internet quality varies between Tashkent and the regions. We assume an unstable connection by default instead of treating it as an edge case.

Local habits matter too. People here reach a business through Instagram and Telegram first, so an app usually has to coexist with those channels rather than replace them, and support links are often expected to open a chat.

How we build Android apps

We start with the user flow: who opens the app, what they came for, and what has to happen after each action. This list turns into screens and rules, and only then into an estimate.

For most business products we build cross-platform, so Android and iOS share one codebase and ship together. Where a project genuinely needs native Android work, we say so instead of defending a default.

Development runs in short iterations. You get working builds along the way and can put them on your own phone, which surfaces problems far earlier than a demo at the end.

Testing happens continuously, not at the end. Every iteration is checked on devices before it is shown, which keeps regressions small and makes the release stage predictable instead of dramatic.

Designing for budget devices and small screens

We test on real phones across price segments, not only on an emulator. Startup time, scrolling and image sizes get checked on hardware similar to what your customers own.

Interfaces are built for one-handed use and for two languages: Russian and Uzbek text differ in length, and layouts have to survive both without breaking.

Accessibility basics are part of the same work: readable font sizes, sufficient contrast and tap targets that survive being used on the move, in bright daylight, with one hand.

Backend, payments and integrations

An Android app is a client. Behind it sits a server, an admin panel for your staff and, usually, integrations with your CRM or accounting system. We design them as one system with a shared API.

Payments and local services are handled case by case. Every provider has its own integration rules and documentation, so we confirm what is possible with your specific partners before promising anything in an estimate.

Local payment providers each publish their own integration requirements, and those requirements change. We check current documentation with your provider before the estimate rather than assuming what worked on a previous project still applies.

Google Play release and what comes after

Publishing is a separate stage: a developer account, store listing, screenshots, description, privacy policy and review. We prepare the builds and walk the app through moderation.

After release the work continues — crash reports, fixes, updates for new Android versions and changes driven by how people actually use the app. We connect analytics so those decisions rest on data.

Store metrics are worth watching from day one: crash-free sessions, retention after the first week and where users drop out of the main flow. These numbers tell you what to build next far better than internal opinion.

Cost, timeline and hiring notes

Pricing is per project. The main drivers are the number of screens and user roles, integrations, whether payments are involved and how much design work is needed. A simple app usually takes around two months; a larger product takes longer.

When comparing developers, ask three questions: who owns the source code, what testing is included, and what support looks like after launch. Cheap quotes often skip the last two, and the difference comes back later.

The search term dev android is a low-competition query here — roughly 70 searches a month at 7 out of 100 competition — which mostly means the market is small, not that good teams are easy to find.

Working with Jar Agency

We are a full-cycle agency in Tashkent: development, advertising, SMM and video production under one roof. An app launched with us does not sit in the store without users, because the team that promotes it works next door.

We have product experience, not just contract work — LoadMe, an app for carriers with 7 946 users. Source code, server access and documentation are handed over to the client.

If you already have a team and need extra Android capacity, we can work alongside it on a defined scope. In that case we agree on code standards and review process before writing anything.

Частые вопросы

Do you build native Android or cross-platform apps?+

Mostly cross-platform, because one codebase covering Android and iOS is cheaper and ships faster for typical business products. Native Android makes sense for heavy graphics or deep system integration. We review your requirements first and recommend the option that fits, not the one we default to.

How much does an Android app cost?+

Pricing is per project. The estimate depends on the number of screens and user roles, integrations with your systems, whether payments are included and the amount of design work. We break the quote into blocks so you can see what belongs in the first release and what can wait.

Who owns the code and the Google Play account?+

You do. We hand over source code, server and database access, API documentation and deployment instructions. We recommend registering the developer account under your own company so the app and its reviews stay with you even if you change development partners later.

Will the app work on cheap phones and weak internet?+

That is a requirement here, not an extra. We test on real budget devices, keep image sizes and startup time under control, cache data locally and make sure the app behaves sensibly when the connection drops. Both Russian and Uzbek interfaces are planned from the start.

How long does the Google Play review take?+

Usually a few days, but it can take longer if the listing is incomplete or the app requests sensitive permissions without explanation. We prepare the store page, screenshots and privacy policy in advance and stay with the project until the app is actually downloadable.
